Results!

Firstly apologies for the delay in this update, its been a busy 2 months!

I am stoked to announce that I had my new career best result being a 5th place in the Arosa- Switzerland World Cup stop! This was a big breakthrough for me at an amazing night race under the lights at the Swizz resort. It was such an adrenaline buzz to be that close to the Big final, with plenty of TV exposure, and come away with a win in the small final to finish 5th.

The new pre Christmas format of the Cross Alps World Cup Tour was a great success. With a tight schedule Squeezing in  6 World Cups, across 4 countries, in 14 days sitting by the time I got on my flight back to New Zealand for the Christmas break I was exhasuted! But to come away with a 5th, a 23rd and 28th I was very happy to say the least.

As is the nature with sport I had some frustrations and areas where I know I can make improvements for the remainder of the season. The very tight qualifying times splitting the field and make the margin for error small and unfortunately I ended up just on the wrong side of qualifying twice, just a couple hundredths of a second off making the finals, with a 33rd and a 34th (32 people qualify).

The Christmas break in New Zealand was a quick 2 week trip to freshen up mentally and a top up physically in the gym, but now I am back in a wintery Europe feeling fresh and focused.
And with the last weekend World Cup resuming in Watles Itlay,  I put down a solid result of 12th place to continue the season where I left off.

I am now sitting inside the top 30 in the World Cup standings with some valuable Olympic qualify points tucked in my belt. The many changes I made have defiantly made some big improvements, however there is more to come! Having coach/ brother Nick with me for the November/ December part of the season was amazing, we created a great environment and lots of changes and learnings were found. I am now working closely with the Australian team who continue to provide a supporting trans tasman relationship.

Cheers Jamie.

Leaving for Val D’Isere tomorrow if the predicted weather bomb lets us out of the country, all very excited. Especially about the fresh snow there.
